Carinval at Soulé & Valentine's Day Show

Soulé is a restaurant that I've been meaning to get to for a while. I actually tried once, but was waylaid when I realized halfway there that the GPS in my car had been stolen. That kind of puts a damper on the evening.

Looks like I have an excuse to try again, though:

CARNIVAL AT SOULÉ INTERNATIONAL!

With the current economy, many who take an annual trip to Trinidad for Carnival are stuck at home, pining for the hot Caribbean sun. Soulé International Restaurant is bringing Carnival home with a special celebration featuring a live Steel Pan performance by Therapy Band on Saturday, February 21st from 8-11pm at 920 Fulton Street between Washington and St. James in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, and it’s FREE!

Authentic Carnival costumes add to Soulé’s festive décor, and a Carnival Menu featuring dishes native to Trinidad & Tobago will be offered for a limited time, including peppery corn soup, creamy coconut curry crab & dumplings and fresh bake & shark!

“I really wanted to go this year, but last year hit me pretty hard financially, and unfortunately Trinidad is not in my budget. I’ll be at Soulé, pretending that I’m on Maracus Beach eating some bake & shark with Mackeson Stout,” reports Victor Torres, a regular at Soulé.

For those who have been forced to sacrifice their annual trip to Trinidad Carnival, or if you just want a taste of the islands, Soulé’s Carnival Menu will be available from Sunday, February 15th to Wednesday, February 25th, so move quickly!

And remember… what happens in Trinidad stays in Trinidad. But this is still Brooklyn, so behave.
As an added treat, Soulé will have some live music on Valentine's Day:
